Avoiding & Overcoming Pornography

In this Brigham Young University Television (BYUTV) special Avoiding & Overcoming Pornography, Dr. Jill Manning, Rory C. Reid, MSW, LCSW, John R. Sealy, MD (Asst. Clinical Professor of Psychology David Feffen School of Medicine, UCLA), Rick Schatz (President & CEO NCPCF)  put to rest some of the common myths about pornography use, share alarming statistics about the reality of who’s using pornography and how young they’re exposed as well as provide some powerful advice on getting help.

Some Statistics:

  • Pornographers make $1 billion a month in United States alone
  • Teens are exposed to sexualized messages in the media 38times per day, 365 days per year – National Coalition for the protection of Children & Families
  • Average child in Americia is exposed to pornography by the age of 8

Common Myths:

  • Not my kids. Kids don’t get exposed that early.
  • Porn will educate people
  • Pornography can spice up my marriage
