Gordon Bruin of InnerGold Counseling

 Gordon Bruin of InnerGold CounselingGordon S. Bruin, is an American Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in the education and treatment of addiction issues.  Gordon is a Program Services Manager for Utah County Division of Substance Abuse and President and founder of InnerGold Counseling services which specializes in the treatment of pornography and sexual addiction issues.

He received his graduate degree from John F. Kennedy University in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Addiction Studies in 1994.  He is also a graduate of the “Addiction Technology Transfer Center Leadership Institute” and has written and self-published the InnerGold Treatment Manual and a book called “The Language of Recovery.”

Gordon has been working in the addictions field for the past 19 years.  While working his way through graduate school he worked at a methadone clinic in the San Francisco Bay area.  Upon completion of graduate school he moved to Sitka, Alaska where his main responsibility was to develop an adolescent outpatient substance abuse treatment program.  He spent five years in Sitka and then re-located to Utah.

Leading up to his current position as Program Services Manager for Utah County Division of Substance Abuse he has worked in the following capacities:  Assistance Director at Project Reality which is a methadone clinic in Provo Utah, Adjunct faculty in the department of Psychology at Salt Lake Community College, Crisis worker at the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute, Assessment Center Director for Utah County Division of Substance Abuse and most the founder and president of InnerGold Counseling Services which specializes in the treatment of pornography and sexual addiction issues.

If you asked him what the most difficult of the addictions to overcome is, he would tell you it’s pornography.

It was great to talk with Gordon. I was glad to have him here to share his experience.
